Item description

Something about drawing: ….Drawing gives insight into what lies beneath the objects around us. It teaches us how to observe. It develops our sensitivity to our own creative impulse and toward each other. We learn to appreciate art and how it is made. It can be a way for us to play again. Drawing is relaxing and can be a whole lot of fun. People from all walks of life use drawing for visual documentation of all kinds. From simple doodling to Engineering etc. To reach beyond the everyday use of drawing, drawing skill has to be developed so that the very essence of what we mean to capture can be recorded with accuracy and the least effort. This can only take place if we are committed to learn to see anew.

The instructor
Adrian Setterfield (Nat.Dip. Graphic Design(1987), extensive work experience in fields of commercial illustration, fine art drawing and painting practice.

The classes
Drawing classes are open to anyone over the age of 16 years, regardless of sex, race or religion. Students are required to be committed to learn and to attend each class.
Classes are small, consisting of a minimum of 4 students and a maximum of 8. Classes are integrated into 4 and 8 week courses with a total of one class per week per student.
The subject
Students will be schooled in drawing techniques as practiced historically by Master Artists. These techniques will be integrated with the drawing instructor, Adrian Setterfield’s, personal research into the practical application of correct perception and accurate discrimination of our environment.

The costs
Price per 4 week course is 480 Rand(excluding art materials) and 840 Rand (excl. art materials) for the 8 week course. One class per week for 4 or 8 weeks.
Classes begin on the 4th of May 2016. and will run for 4 or 8 weeks.
Students need to consider that due to the natural time that it takes to integrate and practice drawing skills, a four week session may not necessarily be enough to fully integrate all approaches taught. Thus the lower cost per class for an 8 week course to encourage students to take on a longer study period.)
Classes will be held on Wednesday mornings from 9am to 12pm. (3 hours) and Thursday mornings from 9am to 12pm (3 hours). Students are asked to choose either day, keeping with their choice throughout the course.
